Welsh festival promoter Climax Promotions & Events Ltd, previously responsible for In It Together and Together Again festivals, has ceased trading following financial difficulties, with reports suggesting that suppliers are owed more than £1.5 million.
The company is moving towards creditors` voluntary liquidation, with insolvency firm Libertas Associates involved in the process.
According to trade publication Access All Areas, a source close to the situation claims that outstanding debts to suppliers exceed £1.5 million, although the figure has not been officially confirmed.
Financial pressures and unpaid creditors
Climax Promotions attributed its financial problems to a combination of disappointing event performance, cashflow difficulties and previously committed investment that failed to materialise.
In a statement provided to Access All Areas, the promoter acknowledged that it could no longer continue trading or meet all its outstanding liabilities. The company also recognised the impact of its closure on suppliers and creditors.
The financial difficulties follow several years of substantial liabilities. According to accounts filed with Companies House, Climax Promotions reported negative net assets of approximately £5.1 million at the end of 2024, with total liabilities of around £7.7 million.
A winding-up petition was presented on 7 September 2026 by Surrey-based Premium Credit Limited, which claims to be a creditor. A hearing was scheduled for 28 October at the High Court in London.
A separate insolvency notice published on 20 October confirmed that a creditors` meeting is scheduled for 4 November, with Nicholas Barnett of Libertas Associates named in the proceedings.
Festivals to continue under new ownership
Despite the collapse of Climax Promotions, both In It Together and Together Again are expected to return in 2027 under new owner The Festivals Group UK.
The Brighton-based company is led by directors Alexander Isles and Paris O`Connell and has previously been involved with events including Land Beyond Festival.
The new operator says its intention is to establish a "stable and sustainable platform for the future" for both events.
Companies House records also show that Climax Promotions ceased to be the controlling shareholder of the companies behind In It Together and Together Again on 1 May 2026, when control was registered under Escape Festivals Ltd.
In It Together, which launched in 2022 at Margam in Port Talbot, Wales, has grown into a festival with a reported capacity of 35,000. Its 2027 edition is scheduled for 28–30 May, with UB40, Olly Murs, The Kooks and JLS among the announced artists.
The change of ownership provides continuity for the two festivals, while the liquidation process will determine the position of Climax Promotions` creditors and suppliers.
