Club 77 launches CSS booking agency

Sydney venue Club 77 has expanded its operations with the launch of CSS, a new independent booking agency, promoter and touring company focused on electronic music.

The company will represent Australian DJs and producers while also working with promoters, festivals and venues to bring international artists to Australia.

New agency builds on Club 77

CSS is headed by Mac Weily and Dane Gorrel, with Gabrielle White providing creative direction.

The operation builds on Club 77’s presence in Sydney’s underground electronic-music scene, where the venue has operated for approximately three decades.

The company says it will focus on artist development, transparent communication and long-term relationships between artists and live-music partners.

CSS launches with five Australian artists: Barney Kato, Barney in the Tunnel, Mazzacles, Phil Smart and Reenie. Further roster additions are expected.

International touring plans

Alongside its domestic agency activities, CSS will coordinate Australian tours for international DJs and live acts. Its first international programme includes November tours by German DJ and producer Move D and Manchester-based selector Tarzsa.

“CSS is a natural extension of what we’ve always done at Club 77: back artists we believe in and bring people together through music,” Weily said.

The launch follows Club 77’s reopening in July after renovation work at its Darlinghurst premises.
