The IMS Business Report 2025, presented at IMS Ibiza, shows the global electronic music industry expanded to $12.9 billion in 2024, marking a 6% year-on-year rise. Although growth has slowed slightly from 2023, the sector remains strong and increasingly influential across culture and business. Authored by MIDiA Research’s Mark Mulligan, the report highlights the rise of new genres like Afro House and a creative resurgence in drum & bass, driven by a new generation of fans and creators. Festivals and clubs remain the industry`s biggest revenue sources, but publishing and hardware/software sales also posted significant growth. Independent labels continued gaining ground, reaching 30% of global label revenues, while electronic music acts now make up 18% of festival lineups worldwide. On digital platforms, electronic genres outpaced rock and indie, with 566 million new fans added across Spotify, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Ibiza club ticketing revenues climbed to €150 million, up 6% despite fewer events, reflecting higher ticket prices and demand for premium experiences. Gender representation is also shifting, with AlphaTheta reporting a rise in female DJ equipment users to 16%.
