Elbjazz Festival Pauses Until 2026 for Strategic Revamp

The Hamburg Elbjazz Festival will take a hiatus in 2025, planning its return for 2026. This pause allows the promoters to focus on a "strategic realignment" of the festival without time constraints, while also addressing challenges in securing headliner acts. Back in June 2024, the festival team had initially set dates for the 2025 edition, but now, four months later, they’ve decided on a one-year break. According to festival director Alexander Schulz, this decision was made to ensure they could work on reshaping the festival at their own pace. Schulz added that they have encountered obstacles in several areas, including securing headline jazz acts for early June 2025, as many potential artists are unavailable. Unwilling to compromise on the musical lineup, the team chose to postpone the 13th edition until 2026. "This break gives us the time needed to advance our vision for Elbjazz and refine the festival`s structure internally and externally," Schulz explained. This past June, the festival attracted 22,000 visitors to Hamburg’s port, featuring performances by Martin Fondse and the NDR Bigband, Asaf Avidan, Akua Naru, Mike Skinner/The Streets, Jungle, Ilgen-Nur, Betterov, Badbadnotgood, Patrice, and Faithless.
