Estonia-based PLG Group has signed an agreement to acquire Romanian ticketing platform iaBilet from Central and Eastern European private equity firm Resource Partners and the company’s founders.

The founders will remain involved in iaBilet and are expected to continue contributing to its development, including at board level. The transaction was signed on 20 May and remains subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

Resource Partners acquired a majority stake in iaBilet in September 2025. The sale, agreed eight months after the investment, represents an accelerated exit for the fund.

Founded in 2012, iaBilet has developed into one of Romania’s best-known ticketing platforms, providing services for festivals, concerts and other entertainment events.

During Resource Partners’ ownership period, the company added several major Romanian festivals to its client base and introduced new consumer-facing products, organiser self-service tools and analytics capabilities.

PLG said the acquisition forms part of its strategy to expand its ticketing and technology operations across Central and Eastern Europe.

“We continue to see strong long-term growth potential across the Central and Eastern European ticketing market,” said PLG founder and chairman Sven Nuutmann.

He added that average ticket prices in the region remain around half those seen in Western and Southern Europe, while the live entertainment sector continues to develop alongside inflation and improvements in audience experience.

PLG plans to continue investing in artificial intelligence-based services and shared technology infrastructure across the group.

“Technology alone does not sell tickets — sustainable growth is built on strong and loyal user bases, while technology creates a smoother and more intelligent customer experience for ticket buyers,” Nuutmann said.

He added that combining a wider regional presence with established local platforms could provide promoters with a more effective sales channel and improve event visibility.

Subject to completion of the transaction, PLG will assess how its Romanian operations can be more closely aligned through operational and technological cooperation centred on iaBilet.

iaBilet CEO and co-founder Emil Ionescu, chief operating officer Razvan Manta and chief technology officer Daniel Cute-Petric will remain with the company following the acquisition.

Ionescu said joining PLG would provide iaBilet with an opportunity to expand internationally and develop new services as part of a larger ticketing group.

The Estonian ticketing group currently operates in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Romania. Its shareholders include Sven Nuutmann’s Angel Rose Capital, private equity firm BaltCap and Estonian investment company Tristafan.
