Connecting the live music industry
Ticketmaster has named Saumil Mehta as its new Global President, effective 1 November, as the company accelerates its focus on AI-driven innovation.
Mehta will report directly to Michael Rapino, CEO and President of parent company Live Nation. He succeeds Mark Yovich, who has led Ticketmaster since 2020 and will transition to the role of Chairman, overseeing the company’s long-term strategic direction.
Mehta brings extensive experience in technology, product development, and global commerce. He joins Ticketmaster after more than nine years at Square, where he served as Chief Product Officer and Head of Business Operations. Earlier in his career, Mehta founded LocBox, a marketing automation platform for local businesses that was acquired by Square in 2015.
In a statement shared on LinkedIn, Mehta said he was “thrilled to accept the role of Global President of Ticketmaster,” adding that the company’s global scale and potential for AI innovation made the opportunity “irresistible.”
Ticketmaster sells more than 600 million tickets annually across 35+ countries, supported by over 4,000 employees. Mehta said the business is poised to evolve through new applications of AI and “agentic commerce,” enhancing operations, data use, and customer experience.
“More importantly, in a world that is increasingly digitised and atomised, I’m betting on something scarce and precious – live entertainment,” Mehta wrote. “This is about a lot more than tickets. It’s about evolving the world’s foremost live entertainment tech product.”
Over the past six months, Mehta has advised and invested in several AI startups. In his new role, he will lead Ticketmaster’s efforts to leverage AI across key areas of its business – empowering venues, strengthening the ticketing infrastructure against fraud and bad actors, and improving the ticket-buying experience for fans.
