Michael Blume, a transformative figure in Munich`s live music scene, passed away last Monday at 64.

Known for his directness and passion, Blume left an indelible mark on the concert industry.

During his decade as head of Taufkirchen`s cultural office, he turned a struggling venue into a thriving cultural hub, hosting stars like Meret Becker and Dominique Horwitz. Even during the pandemic, his strategic leadership doubled subscriptions and secured funding.

Before Taufkirchen, Blume co-founded Concert Büro München, bringing global acts like Oasis and Robbie Williams to Munich. His work shaped the city’s entertainment landscape, though his forthright nature divided opinions.

A devoted Schalke 04 fan, Blume hoped to retire in Spain but passed away before realising that dream.
