Night Time Industries Association (NTIA), has issued a public warning that all nightclubs in the UK could be closed by the end of the decade if the current rate of closures persists.

According to NTIA nightclub scene is "on the brink of extinction," with 37% of venues shutting down since March 2020, averaging three closures per week.

The NTIA has launched "The Last Night Out" campaign to spotlight the ongoing decline of the night-time economy and raise awareness about the closures. The campaign calls for government intervention, including a financial support scheme for clubs and the cultural protection of iconic venues, such as London`s Fabric.

NTIA chief executive Michael Kill (pcitured) warned, “We are witnessing the systematic dismantling of the night-time economy,” emphasizing that the industry represents not only entertainment but also identity, community, and economic value. Without immediate action, he predicts December 31, 2029, could mark the end of UK clubbing, a cultural mainstay for generations.

The NTIA also revealed that, according to a poll of 500 businesses, 70% of night-time venues are either breaking even or operating at a loss. The association claims that without an extension to business rates relief in the upcoming budget on October 30, the future of the night-time economy is increasingly at risk.
