Behind the stage name „Substan“ there''s Fabian Heinitz from the East of Germany. He has been bussy with electronical music Since the mid-90s when he got his first workstation, the Korg T3, as a present. The basic technical knowledge he gained by talking to his brother-in-law.

Fabian made his first public-appearance as „Dr. Lügner Projects“. He bought new and additional equipment (f.e. Akai MPC2000 and Akai K5000) and soon his setup included a computer.

He entered troubled waters when he started to perform his music as a DJ with a computer. Fabian could then well be called progresive in his approuch. Alot of old-school addicts disapproved and still disapprove of that kind of performance. One might think that event organisers (and some DJ''s as well!!) should care less about the performance than the quality of the music.

This is however not always the case. Initial recordings of live-acts and productions were released as „free music“. Availble on the internet for free listening and downloading. Even without commercial publishing Substan drew the attention of many. He performed at the FusionFestival 2005 to 2008 and at all of the GalaxyGroove''s of the Wiesentransmission. Also at smaller parties and festivals.

Initialy Substan consentrated on producing ChillOut. He, however, discovered a certain passion for minimal dark and fast Psytrance as his career progressed. Only a few years back he started producing Dubstep known as the „subroomproject“.

Hardware faded away after a while Fabian used to use only a notebook, ableton live, the instruments of ableton suite and a handful of freeware Vst''s to produce his music and DJ-set''s. Now he uses some hardware like Elektron Digitone, Digitakt, Octatrack mk2, analog four, Hydrasynth and modular.
