Sarah Woodhead, who established Live Nation’s VIP Nation business in Europe, has announced her departure after more than two decades, during which she helped develop premium concert and festival experiences across more than 30 countries.
Sarah Woodhead has left Live Nation after almost 23 years with the company, marking the end of a career during which she played a central role in establishing VIP ticketing and premium experiences as an important part of the European live entertainment business.
Woodhead announced her departure in a LinkedIn post, reflecting on her role in founding and expanding VIP Nation Europe from a small operation into a business serving millions of concert and festival attendees.
She joined Live Nation in 2004 at the age of 26, at a time when premium experiences were largely undeveloped across European touring and festival markets.
According to Woodhead, the concept initially faced resistance from artists, managers and promoters, many of whom questioned whether audiences would pay additional fees for enhanced concert experiences.
"Artists didn`t want to be first. Managers were worried about backlash. Promoters felt fans wouldn`t value the propositions or have an appetite for the prices," she wrote.
Despite those early concerns, VIP Nation Europe expanded its operations into more than 30 countries, developing premium programmes for international tours and major festivals.
VIP Nation is Live Nation Entertainment`s specialist premium experiences division, responsible for developing, selling and delivering VIP packages for concerts, festivals and other live events.
Reflecting on the European business, Woodhead said she was particularly proud of the development of festival VIP programmes, which evolved from relatively simple upgrades into more elaborate hospitality and premium ticketing products.
"What began as a small idea and a tiny team grew into a business operating across festivals and touring throughout Europe," she wrote.
Woodhead also thanked the colleagues, artists, agents, managers, promoters and industry partners who supported the development of the business over the years.
She has not announced her next professional move and said she intends to take some time to reflect before deciding on her future.
