Report Highlights UK Events Significant Contribution to Economy

UK Events, the representative body for the UK’s events industry, recently highlighted that the sector contributes approximately £61.7 billion (€74 million) annually, according to its latest report. The UK Events Report 2024, made by Great Potential Consultancy, provides insights across various event types, including corporate, public, and charity events. The report revealed that trade shows, exhibitions, and product launches alone contributed £33.6 billion to the UK economy, while music festivals, sports events, and cultural festivals added £28.053 million. The sector has also seen shifts in employment patterns, with an increase in freelance roles and stabilising salaries post-pandemic. Additionally, the report shows a growing commitment among event organisers to sustainability, along with the adoption of new technologies like artificial intelligence (AI). “The UK events industry has faced unprecedented challenges over the past few years, but what’s clear from this report is that we’ve not only recovered but are driving forward a growth agenda that will see our sector flourish in the years to come,” said Chris Skeith (pictured), OBE, chair of UK Events. “The resilience, adaptability, and innovation within our industry are second to none, and I’d like to extend my thanks to all those involved in putting this report together.
