Connecting the live music industry
Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) has announced the first speakers for its 2027 conference, which will take place alongside the annual showcase festival in Groningen, the Netherlands.
The event brings together artists, executives, policymakers and music industry professionals from across Europe and beyond to discuss key issues shaping the future of the sector.
Ireland has been named the focus country for ESNS 2027. As part of the programme, several sessions will examine the country`s music ecosystem, artist development strategies and international export success.
Among the confirmed speakers is Dan Lambert, manager of Irish rap group Kneecap, who will discuss the challenges and opportunities involved in building an international career from Ireland. A separate panel featuring Angela Dorgan of First Music Contact and other industry representatives will explore the role of public investment and artist support initiatives, including Ireland’s basic income scheme for artists.
Additional Irish industry participants include Eleanor McGuinness of Earth Agency, Will Rolfe, co-founder and booker of All Together Now and In The Meadows, and Declan Forde, co-founder of Electric Picnic. Their panel will focus on Ireland’s independent live music sector, including festivals, events and the organisations driving growth in the market.
“The ESNS Conference is all about bringing people together to share ideas, challenge perspectives and shape the future of music. We`re excited to announce the first speakers for ESNS27 and look forward to welcoming the international music industry back to Groningen in January,” said Lisa Schoemaker, Head of Conference at ESNS.
The conference programme will also feature a keynote interview with Dutch guitarist Adrian Vandenberg, who will reflect on his 50-year career in music.
Sustainability will also feature on the agenda, with FRÉ (Frederike Berendsen) and LORAL (Laura Overbeeke) of Music Declares Emergency Netherlands presenting the workshop Your Unique Impact Training, focused on creating positive change within the music industry.
