Connecting the live music industry
The Wasserman Agency has announced that it will rebrand as THE·TEAM, marking the first major step in distancing the company from its founder, Casey Wasserman, as the agency moves forward with a potential sale.
In a statement published on its website, the company confirmed that it will now operate under the name THE·TEAM and has launched a new web address at the.team.
“For 24 years, this company has been shaped by our work, our people and our unifying belief in the power of sports, music and entertainment,” the statement reads. “That philosophy remains the foundation of who we are – and where we are going. We go forward as we always have: together.”
The company also clarified that the dot between the two words is part of the official brand name, styling it as THE·TEAM.
Part of broader transition
The rebranding follows Casey Wasserman’s decision last month to sell the agency after his name appeared in documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein case. The agency is one of the largest representation firms across sports, music and entertainment.
Sources indicate that the company’s music division initially experienced some disruption after the revelations, with several artists — including Chappell Roan and Laufey — departing the roster.
However, industry insiders suggest the situation within the division has since stabilised as executives and many artists adopt a wait-and-see approach while the company’s restructuring continues.
Sale process expected to take time
While the rebrand has been implemented quickly, the sale of the company is expected to take several months.
Earlier industry speculation suggested that agencies including Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and United Talent Agency (UTA) had explored the possibility of acquiring Wasserman Music or parts of the business. However, sources now indicate that a sale to a private equity firm or individual investor may be the more likely outcome.
