Danish concert and cultural venue Musikhuset Aarhus has reported a surplus of DKK 5.1 million (approx. €0.68 million) for 2025, following its strongest year to date in terms of overall activity and ticket demand.
Total revenue reached DKK 133.1 million (approx. €17.8 million), up from DKK 132.3 million in 2024 and DKK 106.1 million in 2023, according to the venue’s newly published annual accounts.
Record visitor numbers
In 2025, Musikhuset Aarhus recorded 957,156 total visitors and users, compared to 900,008 in 2024 and 788,557 in 2023.
A total of 402,649 tickets were redeemed during the year, while overall attendance – including ticketed, free and corporate events – reached 558,907. Average occupancy stood at 78.1%, compared to 83.3% in 2024.
The venue confirmed that 2025 marks its most successful year ever measured by tickets sold.
Investment and continued development
The 2025 surplus was achieved in a year that also saw significant capital expenditure, including upgrades to bars and restaurant facilities in the foyer and Musikhusparken. Modernisation of several of the venue’s seven halls will continue in the coming years.
Jan Christensen, CEO of Musikhuset Aarhus, commented:
“We are proud to deliver a solid financial result in a year where, alongside our extensive artistic programme, we have completed major construction projects both indoors and outdoors and hosted Europe’s largest choir festival. This requires dedication and collaboration at the highest level.”
Management confirmed that the DKK 5.1 million surplus will be reinvested into improved audience facilities, technical upgrades and new artistic initiatives, aimed at strengthening the venue’s long-term role within Aarhus’ cultural ecosystem and the wider Danish live entertainment sector.
