The LIVE Trust has distributed £500,000 in phase one funding, marking the first grants awarded under the industry-led initiative supporting the UK’s grassroots live music sector.
Established by LIVE, the Trust was created to address mounting pressures across live music, including venue closures, reduced touring and festival cancellations.
The UK live music industry contributes £6.7bn to the economy and supports 230,000 jobs, yet grassroots infrastructure remains under significant strain.
Phase one funding is supported by a voluntary £1 per ticket contribution on shows above 5,000 capacity and is being delivered through specialist industry organisations to ensure immediate impact.
Jon Collins, CEO of LIVE & LIVE Trust said, “It has been quite a journey over the last year as we registered the Trust with the Charity Commission, appointed trustees, developed a grant making strategy and built support across UK live music. I would like to thank the LIVE Board, our trustees and every promoter, manager, venue, agent and artist that has stepped forward in support of this vital work.”
Creative Industries Minister Ian Murray welcomed the scheme, encouraging further industry participation to help secure the future talent pipeline.
Phase One Funding Allocation:
Music Venue Trust – £200,000 (venue stabilisation, touring access, energy and technical support)
UK Artists Touring Fund (FAC, MMF, MU) – £125,000
Association of Independent Promoters – £75,000
Association of Independent Festivals – £50,000
Oh Yeah Centre (Belfast) – £25,000
Wide Events (Scotland) – £15,000
Production Futures – £10,000
Further funding rounds are expected as additional tours and promoters join the voluntary contribution scheme.
