Watford Colosseum in the UK reopened on Friday following a multi-million-pound refurbishment, marking the latest addition to AEG Presents’ portfolio of mid-sized venues.
The venue, closed since 2020, welcomed audiences back with a performance from English band Ocean Colour Scene.
The refurbishment, supported by Watford Borough Council, includes a new stage, upgraded bar areas and visitor facilities, as well as the restoration of the building’s original 1930s main entrance.
Watford Borough Council appointed AEG Presents UK as the operator in 2023. The company, which also manages Eventim Apollo, indigo at The O2 and the University of Wolverhampton at The Halls, took over the venue in July to complete the final phase of work.
“Great venues bring people together for special moments and that’s exactly what happened on our opening night,” said Lisa Mart, general manager of Watford Colosseum. “Ocean Colour Scene were fantastic as were the fans and it was an incredible atmosphere. Myself and the team are very proud of both the venue and the lineup of artists we have set to play here and can’t wait for the next shows.”
