Connecting the live music industry
The Netherlands-based venue Poppodium Volt has a new leader.
The De Domijnen Foundation has named Roy Alberts as the venue’s Manager/Programmer, effective August 27, 2025.
He takes over from Richard Dols, who will now focus fully on his role as Manager/Programmer at Filmhuis ZICHT.
In his new position, Alberts will oversee Volt’s artistic direction as well as organisational policies. His responsibilities include strengthening the venue’s role in the Western Mining Region and fostering closer collaboration with other cultural institutions.
A Sittard native, Alberts brings a strong background in the music industry. He previously worked as Media Manager at rights organisation BumaStemra, handling licensing and negotiations with broadcasters and streaming services, and as A&R Manager at Strengholt Music Group, where he connected artists with business partners.
“The vast musical knowledge Roy Alberts brings to the table perfectly matches the challenges facing Poppodium Volt,” said Johan de Niet, Managing Director of De Domijnen. “We are convinced he is the right person to strengthen collaboration within the cultural sector and thus increase Volt’s impact.”
Alberts described his appointment as especially meaningful. “Volt is where I had my first live music experience at 17. It feels extra special that I can now contribute to the future of this venue as both business and artistic director. Together with the team and volunteers, I want to further develop Volt into an inspiring place where music, creators, and audiences connect.”
