Bremen’s annual jazz trade fair, jazzahead!, will return from April 24 to April 26, offering a comprehensive professional program featuring more than 50 panels, keynotes, and workshops.

This year’s discussions will focus on sustainability, education, marketing, and industry politics.

The event will explore pressing topics such as sustainable touring practices, engaging younger generations in music, and evolving strategies for marketing albums and songs in the streaming era.
Thousands of industry professionals are expected to attend the world’s largest jazz trade fair, which serves as both a networking hub and a platform for critical discussions on the future of music.

Key Themes in 2025

Jazzahead! 2025 will introduce an expanded conference section with nine thematic areas.

Among the highlighted sessions is the “Better Live” initiative, set for Thursday, which will address eco-friendly touring and best practices from partner countries Spain, France, and Switzerland.

Another significant event is the launch of CooProg Music, a Franco-German tool aimed at promoting sustainable touring across Europe.

Other notable panels include “DIY or Die” on Thursday, where musicians and industry professionals will discuss the growing trend of independent artist management.

On Friday, journalist and lawyer Chris Cooke will lead a session on digital rights and monetization, covering streaming, licensing, and emerging financial models for artists.

Artificial Intelligence and Music

AI’s impact on the music industry will take center stage on Saturday, with a session on “Jazz, AI, and Machine Improvisation.” Featured speakers include Canadian musician and producer Pierre Alexandre Tremblay, who specialises in computer music and sound design.

Closing the conference is “Jahass-Ahead,” a discussion between ethnomusicologist Lucy Durán and producer Pape Armand Boye. Their conversation will explore the historical and cultural intersections of jazz and West African music traditions.
