Ed Sheeran drew over 81,000 fans during his concert series in Kaunas, Lithuania.
The British singer performed for two consecutive nights at the newly renovated Darius and Girėnas Stadium in Kaunas, Lithuania, on August 3rd and 4th, attracting more than 80,000 attendees.
This set a new ticket sales record in the Baltic states for an international artist. The concert series was promoted by AEG Presents, FKP Scorpio, and L Tips Agency.
"Ed`s 2024 has been full of record-breaking shows, not just in the Middle East and Asia, but now in the Baltics. The shows in Lithuania this past weekend marked a fantastic return to the region, and he continues on to Eastern Europe and the Balkans, performing some of the biggest shows these countries have ever seen. It never ceases to amaze me," said Simon Jones, Senior Vice President of International Touring, AEG Presents.
FKP Scorpio Touring Director Inga Esseling added: "We are thrilled to have broken yet another record with the most attended show ever by an international artist in the Baltics. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to L Tips and all local stakeholders, without whom the second music concert ever in Kaunas Stadium, as well as 80,000 tickets sold in just two days, wouldn’t have been possible.”
This was the first international artist performance at the newly renovated Darius and Girėnas Stadium in Kaunas, Lithuania. Žalgiris Group Head of Events Department, Mantas Vedrickas, expressed his thoughts: "Ed Sheeran`s concert at Darius and Girėnas Stadium is a record-breaker for Kaunas city. The effects of this show are felt not only in Kaunas but throughout Lithuania. I strongly believe that this show will be a groundbreaker for all upcoming international and local events. I want to credit everyone involved in organizing the event, as well as Ed Sheeran and his team for choosing our stadium.”
Kaunas City Director of Municipal Administration Tadas Metelionis acknowledged the economic benefits of the shows: “The two weekend shows by Ed Sheeran at the newly renovated Kaunas Darius & Girėnas Stadium were a huge success for the city. The event featured a top-notch performance by the artist, along with constructive and effective communication between the event organizers, the city council, and numerous other stakeholders to ensure a wonderful experience for everyone. Not only were these concerts the biggest commercial events in Kaunas` history, but they also attracted thousands of foreign concert-goers from neighboring countries, according to preliminary estimates. The overall impact on the city`s economy is estimated to be around 14 million EUR. The positive feedback from participants gives us confidence in hosting even more events in the future.”
CEO of local co-promoter L Tips Agency, Gints Putniņš, added: “We are happy and grateful for Ed Sheeran`s loyalty, as we have now promoted all six of his shows in the Baltics together. It was a significant challenge to promote the first shows of this level in the new Kaunas Stadium, but with such a great local team and partners like FKP Scorpio, AEG, and the city of Kaunas, nothing is impossible.”
