Organisers of the cancelled Swiss festival Vibiscum have unveiled a compensation system for ticket-holders, which will not include refunds.

Scheduled to take place at Vevey’s Place du Marché in May, the music festival was called off just days before its third edition.

The organisers cited insufficient ticket sales, which left them unable to cover the costs of artists and other vendors, as the primary reason for the cancellation. Contributing factors included an increase in ticket prices and the inability to attract high-profile artists.

At the time of the cancellation, Vibiscum Festival announced it could not refund ticket purchases.

In a move to compensate ticket-holders, Vibiscum is now offering entry to two other events. Stars of Sounds Festival in Morat and the Openair Fluo in Neuchâtel have agreed to honor Vibiscum tickets.

The organisers said in a statement: “We would like to express our gratitude for your patience since the announcement of the cancellation of the Vibiscum festival on May 16. This has allowed our teams to work actively to find a compensation solution for festival-goers, despite the difficult financial situation in which the Vibiscum Festival Foundation finds itself.”

Vibiscum ticket-holders must apply for their entry to the alternative festivals by June 20.
