German Arena Nürnberg gets new name

From 1 July 2025, Northern Bavaria’s largest multi-purpose venue will officially be called the PSD Bank Nürnberg ARENA. The bank is taking over naming rights from Nürnberger Versicherung, which held the sponsorship for the past 20 years. Helmut Hollweck, Chairman of PSD Bank Nürnberg, and Jürgen Fottner, Managing Director of ARENA Nürnberg Betriebs GmbH, signed the agreement. The partnership is initially set to last five years, with an option to extend. “This is a special moment for us,” said Fottner. “With PSD Bank Nürnberg, we once again have a strong regional partner at our side. Taking over the naming rights is not only a pleasure, but also a clear commitment by PSD Bank to our city and region.” He also extended his “sincere thanks” to NÜRNBERGER Versicherung for their two decades of support. The PSD Bank Nürnberg ARENA can accommodate up to 10,500 guests and has long been home to the Nürnberg Ice Tigers (ice hockey) and HC Erlangen (handball). It also regularly hosts concerts, trade fairs and lectures. Helmut Hollweck highlighted the value of the cooperation: “As a cooperative bank, we want to support sporting and cultural diversity in our region and be a reliable financial partner. The arena has been a place of emotion and major events for nearly 25 years – we want to benefit from that visibility and can’t wait for things to get underway in July.”
