Festivals Hit by Severe Weather

This weekend, severe weather wreaked havoc on festivals in both the UK and Denmark, leading to significant disruptions and cancellations. In the UK, Leeds Festival was severely impacted by Storm Lilian, which brought wind speeds of up to 73 mph in parts of Wales. As a result, three stages at Leeds Festival were forced to shut down due to the dangerous conditions, leaving attendees disappointed as performances were canceled. Leeds Festival ticket-holders have described Friday as the "worst day ever" after 60mph winds blew tents away and demolished urinals. Many campers left the site at Bramham Park when Storm Lilian led to stage closures, cancelled acts and damage. Meanwhile, in Denmark, Tønder Festival also faced the brunt of extreme weather, with heavy rain and strong winds leading to the cancellation of the festival`s closing concert on the Open Air stage. Despite the disruptions, no one was seriously injured during the storm at Tønder Festival. The festival organizers announced that they would still conclude their 50th anniversary celebration as planned, with a fireworks display at 12:30 AM. The weekend’s extreme weather serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of outdoor events and the need for swift action to ensure the safety of festival-goers.
