The history of the band goes back to 1993, when three girls got together in a theatre group in the small Swedish town Landskrona. They were young and wanted to try new stage ground, so they began to experiment with the instruments found in the hidden rooms of the theatre. This experimentation led not only to the formation of the group Berits Bekännelser (The Confessions of Berit), but also to the fact that they got kicked out of the theatre group. The all-male technician crew, who fooled the rest of the group to spend all the money on useless hi-tech stuff, just couldn`t stand these three girls having fun with the instruments and throwing some successful concerts, which spread the rumour about this fabulous odd "punk" band. Punk, because they followed the ideology that everybody can play in a band. And people tended to call their music punk, maybe because of their numerous two-chord songs and social-realistic lyrics in Swedish, for example about life in the largest villa suburb of northern Europe, Rydebäck. But they never wanted to be labelled punk, indie or whatever. These girls didn`t strive to play like someone else. Mainly because they weren`t able to! They started from scratch.
Well, after getting kicked out they started to chase a new place to rehears in, and a lead-guitarist. Preferably someone who could play. In 1994 they found her at the toilets at Goldfinger, a nightclub in Helsingborg. And then things became more seriously fun. The name Berits Bekännelser changed to SOBSISTER (due to the upcoming world wide breakthrough, they decided to find a more internationally current name.) Before, they mediated the sorrows and joy of Berit, the fictive everyday queen. Now she is the four girls` sobsister.
