Carl Pemberton
Hailing from Cleveland, Tennessee and transcending genres like few musicians do, 20-year-old Carl Pemberton brings a style of music that displays influences from Tom Petty to Sublime to Miles Davis to The Grateful Dead. The folk, jam band, and styles combined with both piano rock and acoustic guitar tracks are bound to have many new listeners captivated by Carl Pemberton.
Carl, a multi-instrumentalist, started piano at age four. “I took classical piano and vocal training until I graduated high school,” Carl says. Carl has also been singing and playing guitar and trumpet for nine years. Within the past several years, he has also begun working as a studio musician with the bass guitar and mandolin for his own projects as well as others. Carl has released two full-length albums and an acoustic EP.
Since moving to Murfreesboro, Tennessee to attend school at Middle Tennessee State University, Carl has begun performing at coffee shops and house shows. “I love playing house shows,” Carl says. “The people are my age, my demographic, and my style of getting down. Plus, hundreds of college kids come out to them!” Coffee shops have also been a favorite because of the small, quiet atmosphere that allows for a personal connection with the audience. Carl’s live performances, both solo and with his band, are invigorating and powerful to listen to.
“I want my fans to remember me as someone who gives back to them for supporting me,” says Carl. When considering how he wants to be remembered in the music world, his many musical influences certainly comes into play: “I want the industry to remember me as an artist who knows no limitations in creating and performing music of any genre.”
