Philip Butler
Philip Butler is a virtually unknown Malvern based singer songwriter. Throughout the late 90s and early part of the new millennium he played in various post-punk bands such as Gamble Gamble, Toyskin & A Series of Wheels. In 2009 Philip unleashed his debut solo offering, the highly eclectic ‘Trapped at Sea’. Released on the fledgling Sawmill/Steelmill label, this unusual album rambles through a large number of acoustic rooted genres with, at times, little link from one song to the next.
Following the albums completion Philip formed a duo with his partner Natasha Tranter on accordion, going on to record the deeply psychedelic folk gem ‘Stories For Emily’.
Summer 2010 will see the release of a new solo EP entitled ''Ivy Behind The Plate Glass'', a dark and disturbing 5 track CD that musically bears little resemblance to his previous work. Is this harrowing journey into the abyss of musical ''art'' one step too far? You be the judge.
