Two weeks after graduating from California State University at Northridge, Billy Hulting started his music career touring the world with Maynard Fergusson, Nia Peeples, Natalie Cole, Barry Manilow, and Lou Rawls. He has worked with many others including Clare Fisher and Howard Hewitt among others. Billy also stays busy in town doing sessions, shows, and teaching at the new Los Angeles Music Academy alongside the cities elite players.

Hulting is now stepping out on his own as a leader delivering his own jazz-fusion with the release of his first CD, the Hundredth Monkey, on the Truemedia label.

Billy s music is a unique blend of acoustic and electric instruments. Amidst complex harmonic movement there are spellbinding solos and complex percussion textures as well as tranquil breathing space. Compositionally, and otherwise, Billy s music is on jazz s cutting edge.
