Born in Bogotá, Colombia in 1968, Andrés Rojas Urrego studied music at the Javeriana University. In 1991 he received a grant from the French Government, which enabled him to work and perform extensively with the Ensemble Organum in Holland (Utrecht s Festival), Belgium, France, under Marcel Pérés, the celebrated French musicologist and director who specializes in European medieval polyphony.

Between 1992 and 1995, Andrés Rojas Urrego sang at the Maitrise of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris where he worked with Paul Eswood, Paul Elliott, John Elwes, Josep Cabró, and others...
In 1995 he founded the "Carmina Sacra, solistes de Notre-Dame de Paris" ensemble, and became voice teacher of the boy s choir of the Cathedral.

Currently, Urrego performs with different medieval and renaissance groups (Choeur Grégorien de Paris, Vivete Felici, Diabolus in Musica, English Renaissance, Carmina Sacra, Ensemble Gilles Binchois), performing both in France and abroad (Tallin, Barcelona, London, Brussels, Lebanon). In October 98 he also performed as a soloist in Sweden where he made two concerts with Malmö Barock and two concerts with Vox Nova.

In Colombia, where he lives now, he makes concerts with Luth, with the Symphonic Orchestra of Colombia, and recently with a group he created with harpsichord and violoncello, to perform Vivaldi, Telemann, and Händel s chamber music.

Andrés Rojas Urrego has participated in different recordings; one of them with the Choeur Grégorien de Paris received the Diapason d Or prize in June 1998.
