PETE SANDBERG`s JADE
/Words of Pete Sandberg/
- The JADE story started out as a pure coincident, actually. I was in Copenhagen, Denmark, hanging out with a friend of mine, Ken Hamer from PRETTY MAIDS. I have known Ken since we did a Phil Lynott tribute a couple of gigs. That line up was with THIN LIZZY`s original drummer Brian Downey, Eric Bell on guitar and Per Stadin (Silver Mountain, Snake Charmer) on bass.
- Anyway, Ken and I ended up at a hardrock club called Elm Street and there was a band called JADE who was playing Rainbow, Boston and Whitesnake covers. I was totally taken by surprise.... They sounded great ! So after the show I went backstage to complement the guys and buy them some drinks... I really liked their performance.
- Later, they invited me to some other gigs so we became friends and we really hit it off. I asked the band if they wanted to record some songs I had written in that AOR style.....?? They were really exited and gladly accepted my offer, so we recorded a five song demo. My manager secured a deal with the German record label Point Music for Europe and Marquee/Avalon for the Japanese territory.
- After a ten-day pre-production, we cut the album in only seven weeks. This was also the first time I produced an album, with Anders "Theo" Theander (Midnight Sun, Majestic etc) assisting me, so this was a really challenge for me. But I`m very satisfied with the album so this is just the beginning of the PETE SANDBERG`s JADE story....... This feels very solid because I love to work with such gifted musicians as the guys in JADE are.
