Funk’n Lata, like samba, has to be experienced live, but figure out: Mangueira is Brazil’s most traditional and prized samba school. Its rhythmic section has acheived unanimous highest marks during Rio Carnaval for the last…22 years! Ivo Meirelles - former Mangueira Vice and Rio Carnaval 86’ winner - took the school’s 10 best solists for Funk’n Lata's rhythmic section, added a brass section, bass andguitar for a funk and brazilian dancehall standards irresistible "party-show"!

Combining traditional Brazilian rythms to modern sounds is surely the most creative trend in contemporary Brasilian music. Ivo's composing talents together with the powerful rhythmic perfection and versatility of Funk’n Lata are reaching maturity after two CD'sand notorious colaborations with Jorge Benjor, Fernanda Abreu, Paralamas, Skank, Sandra de Sá and The Young PhilharmonicOrchestra of Boston, amongst others. Willing to reproduce thestrengh of Funk’n Lata’s live performances, the third album willrecorded live in january 2000 and will be released together with a 4 tracks-remixes album for DJ’s and radios.

After an extensive national tour, 12 successful shows during World Cup 98’ in France, 4 at Amsterdam’s Paradiso heating the city’s"10th Brazilian Carnaval" (march 99’), Funk’n Lata has beenunanimously acclaimed by professionals at World Music ExpoWomex99 in Berlin. Year 2000 will see Funk’n Lata touring Europe (june15th - july 7th and august1st- 17th), North America (july9th-31st) and Japan (october).
