Melbourne-based Future Static have been playing their way up since mid-2016, working from complete inexperience to become a staple of the local scene, with Behind The Scene’s Alex O’Neill naming them “a force to be reckoned with… on route to kicking some ass all over Australia”.

Made up of vocalist Bri Marsh, guitarist Ryan Qualizza, drummer Shayana Mannays and bassist Kira Neil, the four piece have been working hard to produce their debut EP, Want, which has been recently released to glowing reviews. Since, the band has celebrated the release with a packed headline show at Footscray''s Wrangler Studios, as well as opening for Melbourne heavyweights, Belle Haven.

Future Static have never shied away from talking about the harder parts of life, as evidenced in Want. This honesty has formed an integral part of the band’s foundation, and has created a powerful and relationship between band members and the fan base alike.

With a powerful energy and genre crossing attitude, Future Static have played across sounds, performing alongside the brightest of pop punk with Scarlet Kill to the heavier tunes of Miss Fortune. In a heavily populated scene, every live show is taken as an opportunity to create an engaging atmosphere and form a genuine
connection with an audience. This has been accomplished time and again, as recognised by Behind the Scene who saw that Future Static “clearly aim to please as [their] set was jam packed with a bouncy vibe that Tonight Alive would be happy with and the attitude of an on fire Tired Lion”.

As well as regular live shows, recent tracks “Daylight” and “Shiver” have had airplay around Melbourne on 3MDR, JOY FM and Triple J’s short.fast.loud. They also like to take any opportunity to work on projects that are meaningful to them, such as making a point of playing with other local female-led bands like Terra, Blossom and The Playbook. This passing February they threw their own highly successful charity Festival, StaticFest 2k18, which raised $2600 to support The Leukaemia Foundation, during which bassist Kira shaved her head for the World’s Greatest Shave.

As noted in Behind The Scene’s EP review, Future Static have no plans to slow down, as they “aim to tear Australia’s music scene to shreds and rebuild it in their own image.”
