Ollie is a recording artist from a small town just south of Toronto, Canada. He has been making music full time for the past 6 years going by the artist name “Ollie”, although some people still refer to him as “Ollie Raps”. Early on in his career he found a tremendous amount of success on YouTube, as the traditional music blog era began to be reinvented in the form of curated music channels posting their favourite copyright free songs daily (allow me to take a second and shoutout Swagytracks, promoting sounds & BestModernMusic).

He quickly began to gain a small following of supporters by releasing new music on a consistent basis and over the years it’s lead to some incredible success. As of writing this his music has been streamed more than 160 million times on Spotify alone, with close to half a billion streams across all platforms combined. But it’s more than just numbers to him. In order to truly understand who he is, you have to understand where he came from.
He grew up gaming, he had always wanted to be a full time youtuber far before that was an acceptable thing to say. He was streaming on twitch when it was still called Justin.tv, and technically his first job at the age of 16 was working as a recruiter for a sub network of Broadband TV called MREGamersTV (he didn’t make much money). But that’s just the point, he was failing to make a living doing something he truly loved. Though money wasn’t his aim, he had fallen in love with the internet and for the first time in his life he felt like he belonged.

Throughout his time in the music industry he believed he could confidently say “I’ve seen it all”. he had managers who took advantage of him, artists who stole his work & as the story goes he signed a couple deals with labels who had no intentions of following through on their promises (they never make direct promises, they just say EVERYTHING you want to hear that infers and suggests an outcome that they know isn’t obtainable). Labels are car salesman, they’ll say just about anything to get you to sign. And when you get upset about their job performance and failure to accomplish the majority of your goals they arrogantly reply “wE NEVeR MadE YOu aNY prOMISes”, and technically speaking they didn’t. It’s fool proof, part of him actually respects the hustle. Thankfully he doesn’t need them survive, he owns all of my masters/publishing and he is truly blessed to have an incredible community of supporters beside him. His fans are his label, but more than that they are exactly like him. They’re a group of like-minded kids who’ve all been through similar struggles, feel under appreciated and at times completely lost. Music just happens to be the medium that connects us all.

In late 2020 he started investing into bitcoin, He knew very little about what it was or the underlying technology it was built on. As most in the Crypto space know all too well, its a rabbit hole. And he fell to its absolute depths, so at least he had thought. In between making music and trading the shit coin of the day I stumbled upon NFT’s, something he had heard about in the odd YouTube video but never anything he thought too much about. The more time he spent learning, the more it began to feel as if everything in his life was beginning to collide. His eyes were opened and he saw exactly where all of this was going, he couldn’t have dreamed for a better opportunity. He resisted the constant urge to release his own project even though he had spent thousand of dollars and hours working on prototypes because he felt it was only right to enter the metaverse first as citizen. He wanted to learn everything he possibly could and support the artists who had contributed invaluably to the ecosystem that he enjoys today.
