Njål Sparbo
Classical/Opera
Born 1964, has studied with Aase Nordmo Løvberg, Ingrid Bjoner
and Knut Skram, and attened master classes with Hans Hotter,
Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Kurt Moll in Germany, Galina
Vishnevskaya and Thomas Hemsley in England, Jorma Hynninen
in Finland and Susanna Eken in Denmark.
Sparbo has been much in claim as an oratorio-singer and has
performed major works by Bach, Händel, Haydn, Mozart, Fauré,
Gounod, Mendelssohn, Puccini, Rossini, Stravinsky and Tippett.
Sparbo made his opera debut in the title role of Mozart's The
Marriage of Figaro in 1991, and has participated in productions
in roles such as Schaunard in Puccini's La Bohème, Fiorello in
Rossini's The barber of Sevilla (Cond. by Alberto Zedda),
Papageno in Mozart's The Magic Flute and the title role in
Kjell Habbestad's contemporary chamber opera Hans Egede's Night.
