John Cornfields works are as impressive as any person alive or dead, the shear volume of professional credits that he has to his name would take a week to read, just look up his credits here or check out his full discography here. The experience that John has had over the 40 odd years he has been in the game is an extremely valuable asset to any artist looking to record with a knowledgeable and dynamic person. He is highly recommended and respected within the industry and a pleasure to work with.
John Cornfield has been in the music industry most of his adult life. Even at school he was doing the sound and lights for bands way back before amplification was invented !!
After leaving school he did a 7 year apprentiship in Electrical engineering for English China Clays in the south west.
All through his time at ECC he still continued doing live sound and recording for local bands and working at Roche Studios. This experience really opened up Johns interest in electronics and where he began to take all thing electrical apart and rebuild them sometimes better than they once were. A skill that John retains to this very day.
In 1985 he became involved at the legendary Sawmill’s Studio as an engineer and eventually left ECC and became the house engineer at the Sawmills full time.
During which time he mixed and produced bands such as New Model Army, Supergrass, Catatonia, Razorlight, Muse, Oasis, Wet Wet Wet, Robert Plant, The Stone Roses, Ride, King Creature and enjoyed a fair amount of chart success. He has worked at different studios all over the world including Austrailia, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
John is currently working from his home studio doing alot of E-Mixing and E-Mastering and also recording live bands. He still has an interest in the Sawmill’s Studio and is often called back there to work on projects.
In between studio recordings John also likes to get out on the road and take care of live sound with touring bands and has recently been on tour with The Feeling, Yellowire and King Creature to name but a few.
