GOTOPO: 'From pre-Hispanic to ancestral futurism'; The artist who redefines the Latin Pop scene.
"A very well kept gem from Latin America. With the beauty of a pre-Hispanic queen, and great vocal strength. She is releasing her first single independently, produced by herself, and it may be the freshest sound to come out of Latin Pop. this year".
A self-produced sound hailing from Avant-gard Pop, Afro Pop, Rock, and "Ancestral Beats" (as she calls it), along with her powerful voice, tell us that the multi-talented phenomenon called GOTOPO won't go unnoticed for long. Their debut single 'Malembe' has inspired some to call it "a futuristic soundtrack with Latin roots ... a mashup of FKA Twigs, Bomba Estéreo and The Weekend ... a very unique sound that will shake your roots."
The single follows the YouTube release of the short film 'The Sound of My Destiny', which has already won a Remi Award at the Worldfest-Houston International Film Festival and a Mention Award at the Canadian Short Film Festival. It was directed by the Colombian Juan S. Jiménez.
The music video for 'Malembe' will take you on a 3 minute journey through the essence of Latino culture; from pre-Hispanic and African goddesses and rituals to a futuristic urban fantasy.
