In 2017, a band manager reached out to a booking agent at a large corporate booking agency. After researching who the agent was and making him the target to acquire, the manager pressed the send button in the hope that one day together they would help boost the band the manager represented. The booking agent was Ben Ward, talented front man of the legendary cult band Orange Goblin and prestigious booking agent. The Manager was Jules Chenoweth representing the band King Creature from Cornwall. Although at the time Jules was unable to secure the services of Ben, they stayed in touch. King Creature grew steadily, securing tours across Europe and finally built up a large following. In 2019, and by coincidence, King Creature and Orange Goblin shared the stage at a UK festival and that ensuing evening led to Jules & Ben (over many beers!) planting seeds in each others heads about a possible future business collaboration. Finally Jules’s persistence paid off and Ben officially took the band onto his roster in late 2019. Tours were planned and shows were booked….but then, fast forward to March 2020 and….
Covid-19 accelerated those initial plans. What better time to start a booking agency when all the others are receding, reducing their staff and rosters and when there is great uncertainty about live shows and festivals and tours are non-existent? Surely this was the sign we had been waiting for? ‘The time is NOW!’ we said and Route One Booking was born. We believe that from this chaos we can carve out a solid, long-term future for our clients and build the foundations of a booking agency re-imagined, an agency that can move quickly, offer more services than just simply taking a cut and put our clients first and foremost in everything we do. Route One Booking is dynamic and committed to the development of its clients, we will go above and beyond the call of duty of a regular booking agency because we are on this journey together. This is just the beginning………..
