Rock
Angelo Soraci, known as Rock, was born in Messina on 07/07/1986. Since he was a child he
shows he has great artistic skills. In July 1992 he was invited to the regional selections of "Lo
Zecchino d'Oro", but, given his young age, he was not taken particularly seriously and was
eliminated by the jury at the preliminary rounds. Since the age of 6, he began to appreciate
singers like Adriano Celentano, his undisputed idol and master, and to love Italian music at
360 °. The first years of artistic development coincide with the great success of dance music,
which led him to create songs of this genre also working as a DJ. In 2002 he founded a
pop-rock group, "Stanza 35, in which he worked as an electric guitarist.
Angelo's interests and talents are increasingly varied and make him a true eclectic artist: in
2003, with his poetic composition, he won a literary prize; in 2004 he recorded his first
disco-cover with "Nameless", a group formed by chance from the meeting with 5 musicians;
in the spring-summer of 2005 he collaborated, and then participated in the regional mini-tour
as an acoustic guitarist, with his cousin Giacomo Aurnia (Winner of the 4th edition of "Voce
di calabria" with "Chiavi di crystal"); in of 2005 he founded the acoustic trio "Alma Plena"
professionally inspired by great Italian and foreign authors. The trio is particularly successful,
especially in Messina, so much so that the critics define it as one of the most beautiful
realities of city music. With the group he participates in several auditions for Rai and
Mediaset.
In the winter of 2006, at the Maresca Studios in Messina, he recorded his first single entitled
"Il profeta lo scrisse": a text of protest, which aims to shake minds from the torpor of a
society that is by now too corrupt and that in January 2008 he presented in Potenza at the
“Kantafestival”.
On 12 June of the same year, in Gravina di Catania, he participated in the auditions of the
"Tour Music Fest", overcoming them with flying colors with the praise of the jury. This
success allowed him to participate, in September, in an internship in Rome with masters of
the caliber of Luca Pitteri (ex professor of Amici), Franco Fasano (author, singer and
composer) and Robert Steiner (musical actor and singer).
After the internship, he succeeds in participating in Tour Music TV but not in the semifinal of
the competition. From June 2006 to April 2009 he performed with "Fire & Ice", a rock band
from Messina where he was an electro-acoustic guitarist and vocalist. From February 1,
2009, as a sound technician, and thanks to the teacher Sonia Mangraviti, he joined the choir
" Les Misérables " where he played the role of bari-tenor and noise player. With " Les
Misérables " he participates in the music festival "Musicando" held in Riccione from 16 to 19
April 2009, during which he won the first prize and the special prize "PromHotels Award", the
one for the Under 25 category and the one for the best director (4 prizes on the 5 at stake).
In December of the same year, he will leave the choir. From February 17th 2009 to February
2010 he participated in the co-management of "Menabò - Ethilically Correct Information",
then broadcast on RadioZenithMessina. Angelo's creative flair is not limited to music, but is
also fed by poetry. Thanks to his simple, linear and romantically light style, from 2009 to
2011 there was no lack of poetic recognition and various publications (awards and
recognitions). But the great love for music brings him back, on October 30, 2012, to
participate, as a guest, in the "Music Festival for the Maurolico-Seguenza choir", presenting
the new "Estate in blues" and performing with the cover "L ' Neverland".
From February to May 2013 he leads “Per colpa di chi?”, Italian music program, broadcast
on www.messinonda.it.
On 7 June 2013, it competed in the "Music & Art Festival" organized as part of the "A.P.Q.
Radici e Ali, Young professionals of the self and of the territory ", held in the presence of
icons of Italian music, such as Massimo Luca, Battisti's historic guitarist, and Luca Di Natale,
percussionist of national fame.
At the festival, Angelo presented "Goldrake", a cover by Alessio Caraturo, and "E poi dai",
his new single 2013, produced by MTM Metamorfosi by Carmen Villalba. This last piece was
a great success, attracting the attention of the great Massimo Luca, who established a
fraternal friendship with Angelo.
In 2014 he participated in the selections of Sanremo Giovani with the song "Pensa".
In 2015 he tries again the road to the most popular festival in Italy, the Festival of Sanremo,
with the song "Piccola (but what's the story this time?)", To the 60 finalists.
In January 2016 he took part in the eleventh edition of the "Waiting for Sanremo" singing
contest held in Viagrande (CT) and, with the cover Destination Paradise, he won the prize of
the senior category critic. In April of the same year, he took part in the competition "Il talent
stage ", winning the first prize for the "Song writers" category, the "Palco dei Talenti Award
"and the" Stage di Canto a Milano" award that will allow him to work with Andrea Ghislotti.
The musical projects in the pipeline are still many and ready to be made, in order to convey
the thought of a simple boy, who believes in his own land and in the infinite potential of the
people who live there.
