Rákász Gergely
Classical/Opera
GERGELY RÁKÁSZ made his début at the age of 15 as the youngest concert organist of Hungary. Until 2005 he studied and gave several concerts in the United States. He has had more than 1500 performances in Europe and in American cities up to now (2019). His special view makes classical music juvenal and lively. His special concert shows have established a new genre which helps thousands of people to get closer to the classicals and the instrument through fine art, dance and theatrical acting. His concert named ‘A Concert in Blue’ has been watched by about 30,000 throughout Europe. In ‘Bachalley’ project he was the first in the world to match the two likely farthest poles of the artistic palette, namely Bach fugues and Street Dance. His WaterMusic production on the River Danube, Rhine and Seine is a desired destination for culture-lovers year by year. He has played for the Crown Princess of Denmark, the Prime Minister of Hungary, and the WHO. During his charity projects, together with his audience, he supports several worthwhile aims. The most significant one is a better life for the orphaned children in home of friar Csaba Böjte in Tusnad (RO.) At his concerts not merely he plays enchantingly but also he enthrals the audience with his exciting and enjoyable stories from the history of music. There have been ten of his solo albums. He is the Cultural Ambassador of his home-town, Gyor, and also he is a Knight Templar.
The ‘LORDS OF THE ORGAN’ series includes the greatest composers of the musical instrument and their immortal works. In the history of the instrument the ‘Lords’ are like purple book-markers in the encyclopaedia of eternity. Certainly the book always opens at Bach, then we turn over to better and less-known masterpieces, and the breathtaking arrangements raise others than originally organ composers to the company of the ‘Lords’. Therefore at the same time the compilation offers well-known tunes, new curiosities and surprising experiences from the King of the instruments’ Household. These recordings reflect on the stagelike, show side of the organ. The instrument was already used by the ancient Romans at big festivals. It was drawn on carriages and it fascinated the crowds at gladiatorial tournaments. It was listened by kings and emperors, so the church had the reason to dispossess it. It was there in the Hollywood movies in the early years, and it is also there for today’s audience on the palette of entertainment. RG.
