The legendary Gypsy Queens & Kings featuring Romanian brass demons of Fanfare Ciocarlia has enjoyed exceptional success around the world over the past three years - this included many sold out venues - for example at the Barbican in 2007 which made history. The Independent wrote: “…just one verse was enough to make this the concert of the year.”
The second edition of The Gypsy Queens & Kings in 2009/2010 still features Macedonian Gypsy Queen Esma Redzepova, Bulgarian Mahala rocker Jony Iliev, young Romanian singer and Taraf De Haidouks’ Nicolae Neacsus granddaughter Florentina Sandu, as well as acclaimed French rumba Gitano group Kaloome. New to The Gypsy Queens & Kings is the young and vibrant brass band Mahala Rai Banda who are performing new material especially created for this new show. The Gypsy Queens & Kings concerts offers powerful visual, musical flamboyance and gives the audience an extraordinary and unique experience of the soul of Gypsy music.
