2009 TOUR

Five years ago the world famous guitarist, Al Di Meola and the virtuose hungarian flute player, Eszter Horgas played together in Hungary to perform the remake of Bizet’s Carmen. It became a huge success and they got an amazing amount of positive feedback afterwards too. Maybe because they managed to place the original Carmen into nowadays so people could understand and feel the story even better -as Eszter Horgas said.

One of this years’ biggest surprise is, Eszter Horgas’ and the world-famous gitar virtuoso, Al Di Meola’s joint production, the „He and Carmen” album.
The two stars, forming a band made their second performance in Budapest which became enormous success, and was recorded live and that is their new cd’s material.

Al Di Meola and Eszter Horgas are always enjoying working together and whenever they do it is sure that the result is always something very special and unique. They planned this show for a long time and they were both very satisfied when they managed to work together again.


HE & CARMEN

The music itself combining classical, latin and jazz elements made it possible to create a unique, good atmosphered, passionate concert.The guitar and the flute, the two very exciting instruments made a beautiful pair and according to the music they were playing either responding or against each other.

The variety of the musicians, the american Al Di Meola, the cuban Gumbi Ortiz, the italian Peo Alfonsi, the hungarian Eszter Horgas and the other hungarian musicians made the performance even more original, bringing their own culture, adding their own personality to create a sheer, unique concert smouldering from love and and passion.


MUSICIANS
AL DI MEOLA guitar, ESZTER HORGAS flute, GUMBI ORTIZ percussions. PEO ALFONSI guitar, GABOR CSEKE piano,VIKTOR HARS bass, ZOLTAN LANTOS violin, PETER KASZAS drums.

The seven male and one female musicians dramatic performance combined with show elements summones the ghost of Carmen and tells stories about love, sensual pleasures, sadness and finding each other with the help of the various latin rythms and songs.

Altogether the eight musicians are like good friends and the audience could feel the happy and friendly spirit that made this special event possible.

The latin temperamental musical pieces, written by the famous Astor Piazzolla or one of the finest classical composers, George Bizet,or Al Di Meola ensured this event to be rememberous. Pieces like George Bizet’s Destiny theme or Piazzolla’s Cafe 1930 or the Libertango are perfect additions to the passionate musical idea. The pieces were selected by Al Di Meola and Eszter Horgas and some of them was written by the hungarian musicians, like Viktor Hars or Gabor Cseke.

The show is also very visually passionate with High Definition screens and projections, visual effects. It is designed by one of the most acknowledged visual artists in Europe, the Cinetrip Team. AL Di Meola and Eszter Horgas both wanted to make this show as visually intense as possible and the Cinetrip Team managed to provide a very spectacular stage.

Altogether the „He and Carmen” is a very unique and impressive production and it is also very universal and international because of the musical language it speaks. But at the same time it is so unique that it simply needs to be shown around the world and the joint work of stars like Al Di Meola and Eszter Horgas represents such a quality of fine music people cannot miss.


THE PRODUCTION
The band is getting ready for their international tour to present their album and they are awaiting for the applications of international promoters,festivals or countries.

The tour will be launched in the second half of 2009 and they would like to make an international tour as long as possible to involve every country because there are already a lot of enquiries about this project.
They are happy to perfom more than one show in a country and attend at festivals, special events.
