Let us turn our clocks backwards to when Nirvana, Guns n`Roses and Ketil Stokkan roamed the billboards. Kevin Costner danced with wolves, Gamle Laffen sang his last refrain and pastel was the new wine.

Somewhere in the outskirts of Oslo Ole Kristian Aas is on the hopeful road of becoming a classical pianist. In a couch just round the corner two young lads, Håvard Bakken and Pelle Nordlie eagerly jumps up and down while singing along to David Bowie. Atle Borgeteien is in a grumpy mood, as he has worn down his second copy of "Hunting High and Low", while Anders Finslo is head banging away to Napalm Death.

Blind Archery Clubs´ happy childhood days are definitely over, and that the group of friends from Follo has grown up is solidly proven by their debut album The Union.

It has been a year since their first studio session. During the recording period BAC, with their flat structure, had to grind their imagination in order to satisfy every band members´ preference. They have sought out the strangest locations in the pursuit of noble sounds and exquisite rings; Their piano has been moved in and out of churches and experience quite an adventure. To give his voice a hoarse touch, Pelle - after a night of mean whiskey, shagged tobacco and two hours of sleep - was voluntarily forced into the the studio to lay down the vocals for the tittle track of the album.

Conceiving The Union became an obsession for the band, and they have done everything possible to give you the perfect sound of their own pop universe. And this thoroughness, combined with a rare musical sense and a collective band spirit, make The Union close to a musical utopia filled to the brim with details and deep water pearls, along with a grounded springlike drive.

The album contains this winters´ most beautiful pop harmonies seasoned with layers of different emotions, moods and meanings. Anxiety, hope, dark emotions, change, and relations to name but a few. Never has such a mixture given life to so much warmth as when convincingly being communicated through BAC presence.

BACs´members have been through a fair share of ups and downs, and this is reflected in the friction, depth and honesty within their music. Some years back Anders was hospitalized due to a severe cerebral hemorrhage and then they all realized that music makes a meaningful life. Revelations like this spawn the greatest kind of pop music.

If you appreciate meaningful pop music, be sure to welcome The Union!

"And we´ve seen a band from Oslo, Blind Archery Club. They were crazy! Smart, sophisticated pop with complex harmonies. Really great!"
