"Hailing from County Derry, Northern Ireland, alt-rockers Scheer comprised Audrey Gallagher (vocals), Neal Calderwood (lead guitar), Paddy Leyden (rhythm guitar), Peter Fleming (bass) and Joe Bates (drums). Formed in the early '90s, they issued their first two singles on Dublin label Son, before signing to 4AD and releasing the Schism EP in October 1995. Audreys vocals provided a striking counterpoint to her bandmates metallic wall-of-sound, Select magazine describing her as "a cross between Shirley Manson, Björk and some evil spirits". The quintet's debut album Infliction was released in May 1996, after which they toured America with labelmates Lush and Mojave 3. A second, limited edition Scheer album, 2000's ...And Finally, came out after the band had split up on their own Schism Records imprint. Neal & Audrey continued to work together as Lima. Neal continues to work as a renowned and sought after Producer, setting up his own purpose built Manor Park Studio working with, amongst others, Neil Fallon from Clutch, Andy Cairns, Left Side Brain, The Answer, Ricky Warwick (ex The Almighty) Reuben and The Devine Comedy. Audrey began collaborations with other musicians the most notable being Agnelli & Nelsons acclaimed 'Holding on to nothing' under the name Aureus which reached No.1 in the UK dance chart and featured on several compilations such as Gatecrasher and Ministry of Sound. So impressed was Paul Van Dyk that he remixed the track for his own Vandit label."
