The Cantori Gregorian
Classical/Opera
The Cantori Gregorian are a vocal manly voice group that devote themselves to the study and diffusion of Gregorian chant exclusively. It is made up of specialists who base their proposal on the semeiologic research, that is on the study of the ancient handwritten sources dating back to the X-XI centuries. In the past the frequent mystification of Gregorian chant has created a kind of "cultural veil" which hasn't allowed to understand it's real essence. The development and the constant revision of this rigorous research has permitted a new fully conscious approach to what can be considered as the basis of the western music. Through the instruments of semeiology, the proposal of our group wants to point out the up to dateness of Gregorian chant: it wants to give a correct representation of the ancient exegetic tradition of the Holy Scriptures; the music helps it to emerge with all it's expressive force. The choir activity, whose founder and permanent conductor is Fulvio Rampi, Bachelor of Gregorian chant at Luigi Agustoni school, organist and teacher, is very intense. The Cantori gregoriani boast numerous presences in Italy and abroad (Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Slovenia) for prestigious musical and cultural associations. In 1995 the choir went on three tours to Japan, where it held a lot of concerts in the main towns. In 1996 the Cantori gregoriani were the only group of Gregorian chant to take part in the orthodox musical Festival with a concert in the Sala Grande of "Ciaikovski" Consevatory in Moscow (Russia).
