Moon Gringo
Rock
The six-piece band from Copenhagen, Denmark were for a longer period about on the music scene of the Copenhagen underground, where they released demos and played gigs almost everywhere. With a starting point in the English introverted indie scene, but soon Moon Gringo moved towards a more accesible and pop-like sound, though without loosing the sense of the melancholic twists.
Moon Gringo's music was carried by good catchy melodies and refined, brilliant arrangements and were among the leading acts in Danish indie pop. The album Boy Girl Beat was mostly centered around the band in its wholeness, whereas the lead singer Mette was more in focus on their next release "Ingrid Superstar", where the band also started to play with sounds and seek out the best in their expression. This album is recorded purely like Phil Spector would have done it.
Before they split up, Moon Gringo got a Danish Music Award nomination for Best Rock Record, performed several times at the Roskilde Festival and heaps of other festivals as well as supporting Suede on one of their tours.
The band split up in 2005 because of artistic differences.
