Haze Over Haarum was started in 1980 by a group of local musicians. Subsequently, HarboøreRhytmic Music Association was founded with the express purpose og providing local musicians with the opportunity to perform before a large audience, as well as allowing local residents to enjoy bigger musical events, all provided through the voluntary efforts of the association.

Over the last 25 years, the festival has developed into a large and healthy buisness and has become a major contributor to the areas cultural youth and social life.
