person About London Saxophonic

Whilst still at the Guildhall School Of Music & Drama Gareth Brady and Will Gregory put together a saxophone choir to perform the Sax Mass by John Harle. Out of this success came the group London Saxophonic.

London Saxophonic comprises twelve players covering the saxophone family from the sopranino sax down to the bass sax. Once piano and electric bass are added, not only the sight of this is spectacular, the sound is amazing.

Until now the group has concentrated on performing the works recorded on its three CD releases. Two feature the music of Louis Hardin (Moondog) and the other a collection of works drawn mainly from the repertoire of The Michael Nyman Band. The group is currently presenting new arrangements of John Adams' Nixon In China, and original works by Gareth Brady and Will Gregory. One of these is a collaboration with the avant garde saxophonist Evan Parker.

Recently they have performed at The London's South Bank as part of the Oris Jazz Festival, The Canterbury Festival, St. George's in Bristol and at Wimeraux in France.

"The dectet of saxophones plus piano and bass guitar that is London Saxophonic is staggering… sounded like an Arvo Pärt choir jamming with the Bulgarian National Assembly of Throat Singers, yes it was that good." The Independent

"Resourceful, entertaining and thoroughly musical." The Times
