Release: 19 April
Breed 77's last single La Ultima Hora is one of our favourite rock
tracks of recent times. Follow-up The River is a more mellow affair,
drenched with strings and with the unmistakable mark of a quality,
song-based, world class rock band. They're about to go out on a 27
date headlining tour including London's Garage on Friday April 30.

Release: available for Europe
A great pop song this, solely written by the artist. It was mixed
by Chris Lord-Alge and it sounds like a US smash to us. 24 year-old
Carly first emerged in New Zealand's hugely successful televised answer
to the late '90s girl group pop phenomenon, True Bliss. Her solo album
Passenger is platinum in New Zealand. We Kissed was a no. 2 airplay
hit in New Zealand and a top ten single on sales.

Nothing But Love

Release: 3 May
It was Howard Berman, then MD of Mercury, who first turned us on to
the wonderful Shelby Lynne. So it's fitting that the first release
on his own label is Lari White, a Florida artist who sounds like Shelby's
musical soulmate. Lari has followed a similar career path to Shelby
too (reasonably successful albums for majors but within a Nashville
straightjacket from which she has now broken free), and album opener
Nothing But Love is just jaw-dropping like nothing since, er, Shelby
Lynne!

Release: 26 April
Fresh sound and beats and a big big hook from this new EMI signing,
plus a lyric that recalls the best of Madonna. Alex vocalled Lee-Cabrera's
Shake It which was a Beatdown Production. This track is produced by
Beatdown and Big Brovaz Ent and it sounds to us like Alex has genuine
adult appeal as well as a hit debut single.

Release: out now
A band we've liked for a while who step up to the next level on this,
their second single. Produced by Sam Wiliams (22/20's, Hope of The
States), it's menacing, powerful, melodic, funny and will surely cause
some American ears to prick up. The Smell came out recently on a small
label but the band remain unsigned.
