The agenda for the upcoming MTV European Music Awards (EMA) on November 6 in Edinburgh is packed with the sort of attention to detail and style associated with top class entertainment. The 10th edition of the event is composed of various elements combined to present an impressive celebration of pop in a typical MTV manner.
Of course MTV is not to everybody's taste, but even critics would probably agree that the scheduling of this year's MTV EMA promises a remarkable event. Prior to the award show at the Ocean Terminal Arena, Western Harbour, Leith in Edinburgh, MTV have scheduled 4 shows entitled 'Road to Edinburgh'. The first, featuring the Scottish band Travis as headliners, together with Skin, the singer of Skunk Anansie and Polish act Myslovitz, took place on September 29 in the Royal Festival Hall in London. The following three will take place in the Symphony Hall, Birmingham on October 11, the Palace Theatre Manchester, October 19 and the Opera House, Newcastle on October 26.
AS part of the strategy to build momentum and awareness of the Awards, each show will be screened on all European channels of the station's network. |
Richard Godfrey, Executive Producer of the MTV Europe Music Awards commented: "MTV Europe will be bringing live music to the whole of the UK to celebrate the 10th year of the MTV Europe Music Awards. MTV Europe's Road To Edinburgh and Princes Street Gardens events will give music lovers who may not get to attend the MTV Europe Music Awards in person, the chance to be part of the celebrations - MTV style!"
Godfrey has a reputation as one of the best TV-producers for concert recordings. Meanwhile the first of the names that will be part of the EMA's 2003 has been revealed. These famous names reveal another high point in the ambitious master plan to create an extraordinary event. Christina Aguilera will be acting as the host for show while Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue, Sean Paul, The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips and Travis are will perform live.
In a press release Brent Hansen, CEO of MTV Europe states: "The 10th annual MTV Europe Music Awards is set to be the best and most exciting yet, truly reflecting the diverse musical tastes of Europe's youth. We have attracted the finest new and established talent for the 10th annual show - which will use the stunning backdrop of our unique Edinburgh location to great effect."
