 Mojo
Concerts, bought by Clear Channel Entertainment in 1998 to
become the Dutch arm of the Company, have dismissed Willem
Venemar on the day before Dutch business regulatory authorities
searched their offices
The company has dismissed one of Mojo Concerts
most prominent figures, well known both in Holland and internationally.
On February 16, just one day before competition authorities
searched the offices in Delft, Willem Venemar received his
dismissal. Venemar has been in the business for 29 years and
worked for the Dutch market leader as booker and project leader
where, amongst other major projects, he was responsible for
festivals such as Lowlands.

While
Venemar refused to comment on the Mojo Concerts decision, he
rejected speculations that the investigation by the Nederlandse
Mededingingsautoriteit (NMA) has anything to do with his dismissal.
Nevertheless the investigations caused a buzz in Holland, sparking
various stories in the Dutch media. One of latest states that
Leon Ramakers is acting as the chairman of the company for two
days per week. The other Mojo directors John Mulder and Dick
van Zuylen are supposed to be in negotiations about the prolongation
of their contracts with the Clear Channel subsidiary.
In the meantime no further information about the results of
the NMA are yet available. Venemar has announced his attention
to continue business as an independent entrepreneur. A diplomatic
intervention by Pink Pop director Jan Smeets, acting as middleman,
has led to Venemar working as a consultant for Pink Pop and
the Lowlands festival which will again involve working in close
contact with Mojo Concerts.
