Every september Barcelona City Council organizes a festival called Barcelona Acció Musical, which is part of Barcelona's annual festivities, which takes places around September 24th. BAM is an open-air free festival which takes place in different squares of the old city and in a new urban area by the sea front called parc del forum, where barcelona's universal forum of cultures took place back in 2004. 2006 will mark the 14th edition of a festival which has brought to Barcelona some of the world leading and more interesting bands. More than 900 bands from all over the world have performed in the festival, which revolves around an eclectic mix of musical styles, from world and indie to electronic, rock, pop... Amongst the artists who have visited us we count Lou Reed, Ojos de Brujo, Rinocerose... The number of people atending the festival is in the region of 163.000 every year, making it one of the most successful urban festivals of its kind
